Gerald “Jerry” Frederick Jungck, professor, emeritus, died Nov. 23, 2023 at 94. In his 51 years teaching at Bradley, he served as the chair of the Mathematics Department for two terms, the Bradley faculty representative at the Illinois Math and Science Academy and the associate editor for the research journals The International Journal of Mathematics & Mathematical Science and The Journal of Mathematical Analysis & Applications. For his exceptional service, Bradley awarded Jerry the 1983 Samuel Rothberg Professional Excellence Award, and a Caterpillar Inc. Professorship in 2007.

Catherine “Kay” Hinckle Ricciardelli, faculty emeritus, died Dec. 19, 2023 at 96. Kay retired from Bradley in 1994 after 27 years in the department of sociology. She touched countless lives and broadened many minds during this time—teaching courses in anthropology, sociology, western civilization and archaeology. Kay also served as chairperson of the Sociology Department and was a member of the Fine Arts Society, Peoria Symphony Guild and As You Like It. She continued her love of learning by attending classes through The Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at Bradley University.

Richard Carver, ’59, died May 5, 2023 at 85. He and his wife Judith met on a blind date while he was at Bradley. After college, Richard carried on his late dad’s legacy as president of Carver Lumber Company. He also served in the Air Force Reserve Command, attaining the rank of colonel. His tenacity and passion led him to a long career in public service. He ran for the city council in his twenties and then spent nearly two decades as Peoria’s mayor. By the late 1970s, Richard’s career moved to the national stage. He was appointed to presidential commissions under both President Carter and President Reagan. He spearheaded a “Mayors for Reagan” campaign and was appointed as the assistant secretary of the Air Force for Financial Management during the Reagan administration.

Gene Morse, ’59, died June 4, 2023 at 85. At Bradley University, he was a member of the Sigma Chi fraternity and played basketball on Bradley’s first NIT Championship Team in 1957. Gene remained active in the life of Bradley University as an alumni and he was honored to be the recipient of the prestigious Lydia Moss Bradley Award given in recognition of his outstanding commitment and service to Bradley University. He was a member of Bradley Athletic Hall of Fame, the Greater Peoria Sports Hall of Fame and IHSA Illinois Basketball Coaches Hall of Fame. Gene was a partner in the Unruh & Morse Agency in Peoria.
